Junior League members across the Association can begin earning credit for the hours they spend on League community projects throughout the year. Members who put in at least 100 League volunteer hours in any consecutive 12-month period are eligible for the first level of the Volunteer Service Awards program. A special task force of League leaders, along with AJLI staff, worked directly with the Points of Light Foundation in Washington DC – the organization that administers the President's Volunteer Service Awards program – to adapt that program for Junior Leagues within the United States. For Leagues outside the United States, a parallel awards program was created called the AJLI President's Volunteer Service Awards. Both programs recognize the countless hours that Junior League volunteers dedicate in service to their local communities. With only a few exceptions (like attendance at League Fundraisers and any other League activities that are primarily "social" in nature), almost all League project hours count towards the new awards. You can get to the VSA website directly by going to http://vsa.ajli.org. This is the website where you will log the hours you have worked. Upon your first visit, please follow the instructions to register. You will need to keep track of your username and password. Awards Structure Each award package consists of an official lapel pin, as well as a personalized certificate of achievement. In addition, the U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Awards include a congratulatory note from the President of the United States, along with a letter from the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation. The AJLI President's Volunteer Service Awards (for Leagues outside the U.S.) include a congratulatory note from the President of the Association of Junior Leagues International.
